How to Restart and Turn Off Your iPhone

In this article, we will highlight how to restart and turn off the different generations of iPhones.  It's important to note that the process does change depending on the age of the iPhone.  For example, the iPhone 11 restarting process is different from an iPhone SE or the iPhone 8.  Below we outline steps to restart every iPhone. 

How to restart your iPhone X, 11, or 12

1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

How to restart your iPhone SE (2nd generation), 8, 7, or 6

1. Press and hold the side button until the power off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

How to restart your iPhone SE (1st generation), 5, or earlier

1. Press and hold the top button until the power off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo.
