Boost Mobile Family Plans: Compare Adding a Line With a Separate Plan
Adding a child's first phone starts with a practical question: what would one more line actually cost your household? Compare your current carrier's written quote with the total cost of a separate line. The answer depends on your existing discounts, devices, coverage, and the offer you qualify for.
Start with your current family plan
Ask your carrier for the new total monthly bill and subtract what you pay now. Include taxes, fees, required add-ons, and any discounts that change when you add a line. Check whether a device promotion requires financing or ongoing bill credits. A low advertised per-line price may depend on a particular number of lines.
Keep the one-time phone purchase separate from recurring service. If you already own a compatible phone, ask about bringing that device. An unlocked phone still needs to support the carrier's network and activation method.
How Boost Mobile multi-line offers differ
Boost's current family-plan page describes multi-line savings for eligible lines on Unlimited+ and/or Unlimited Premium plans. Do not assume the entry Unlimited plan receives those same discounts, or multiply a headline single-line offer and call it a family-plan quote. Check the current plan names, qualifying line count, and checkout total directly with Boost.
If you already have Boost service, review the options in your account. Boost documents an Add A Line option on the website and an Add New Lines to My Account option in its app. Availability and eligibility depend on the account and offer; confirm the total before making changes.
The Plug Connected Pack option
An eligible Plug Connected Pack combines a compatible phone with 3 months of Boost Mobile Unlimited Talk, Text & Data at $0*, provided by Plug. Starting month 4, it's $25/mo for life with AutoPay ($30/mo without). That is a single-line Boost Mobile price, not an automatic multi-line discount.
The included service provides Unlimited Talk, Text & Data. Unlimited data does not mean every use runs at the same speed: review current premium-data, hotspot, and network-management terms. Coverage and speeds vary.
Plug's offer is for U.S. service on a new Boost Mobile line. Claim your code at plug.tech/boost with your order number and ZIP, and it shows on the next screen. Prefer a physical SIM? Select that option during activation. *Taxes and fees may apply. Plug sells the device and pack; Boost Mobile provides wireless service. Review the current Connected Pack offer before buying.
Set parental controls on the child's device
A family billing account is not a substitute for setting up the child's phone. Do not assume a service plan includes app approvals, screen-time schedules, or location monitoring. Begin with Apple's family controls on iPhone or Google Family Link on Android. Review any optional carrier tools separately, including their fees and device requirements.
Discuss the settings with your child and agree on a backup contact plan. No filter or location display guarantees safety. Our First Phone hub includes a readiness guide, current phone picks, useful apps, and a printable family agreement.
