How recent Pro models compare
The iPhone 15 Pro weighs 187 grams, the 16 Pro 199 grams, and the 17 Pro 206 grams. That makes the 17 Pro 19 grams heavier than the 15 Pro. For the corresponding Pro Max models, the figures are 221, 227, and 233 grams: a 12-gram increase from the 15 Pro Max to the 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 18 Pro adds 5 grams over the 17 Pro, while the 18 Pro Max adds 16 grams over the 17 Pro Max. Duo is another 5 grams heavier than the 18 Pro Max. These are US-model comparisons; regional variants can differ.
What is the lightest iPhone?
The iPhone 5 and 5s are the lightest in this historical chart at 112 grams. The iPhone 12 mini is the lightest all-screen model listed at 135 grams. That does not make an older phone the best purchase today: check app support, battery condition, screen size, and availability before choosing on weight alone.
What is the heaviest iPhone?
The iPhone Duo is the heaviest model in this verified chart at 254 grams (8.96 ounces). The iPhone 18 Pro Max is the heaviest non-folding model listed at 249 grams (8.78 ounces). Earlier, the checked US pages listed both iPhone 13 Pro Max and 14 Pro Max at 240 grams. The chart preserves Apple’s published values and rounding.
Why do iPhones weigh different amounts?
Weight reflects the entire device: frame, glass, display, battery, cameras, and internal components. A material name alone does not tell you which phone is lighter. Apple describes the iPhone 15 Pro and 16 Pro as titanium designs, while the iPhone 17 Pro uses an aluminum unibody design. Apple also specifies an aluminum unibody for iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, while Duo has a titanium foldable design. Compare finished-phone weights instead of assuming every Pro uses the same material.
Weight, size and everyday comfort
For one-handed use, compare width as well as weight. For reading and video, consider whether a larger display is worth the extra size in your pocket. Battery endurance and camera quality need separate comparisons; neither can be predicted from weight alone.
A case, magnetic wallet, grip, and screen protector add to what you carry. The phone-only numbers above cannot tell you the weight of that combination. Duo measures 117.8 × 84.1 × 11.3 mm closed and 117.8 × 164.6 × 5.2 mm open, stated as height × width × depth. That changes the shape you carry and use, but its phone-only weight remains 254 grams.
